Your Pups Special Day…

Homemade Peanut Butter & Pumpkin Cake Recipe

Obviously, celebrating your dog’s birthday is a MUST! I mean, they’re basically our children… How could we not celebrate?

Recently, my oldest dog turned 8, and this year I decided to make him a birthday cake! I usually make him a crockpot meal for his birthday, but I wanted to switch things up and make something a little more special.

So, if you’re looking for an easy homemade treat for your pup’s next birthday, gotcha day, or just a special occasion, give this one a try!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour

  • ½ cup oats

  • ½ cup pumpkin purée

  • ¼ cup peanut butter

  • 1 egg

  • ¼ cup water

“Icing”

  • Plain Greek yogurt

  • Peanut butter

How To Make It

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.

  2. Mix the peanut butter, egg, and pumpkin purée together.

  3. Add the flour, oats, and water and mix until everything is well combined.

  4. Lightly grease a cake pan or line it with parchment paper.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick or knife inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Allow the cake to cool completely before decorating.

  8. For the icing, mix plain Greek yogurt with peanut butter until you reach your desired consistency.

  9. Spread the icing over the cooled cake.

  10. Top with any dog-safe toppings your pup loves!

Important Note

Every dog is different, so always consider your individual dog’s dietary needs when making homemade treats.

If any of these ingredients bother your dog, you can substitute them. Depending on your dog’s needs, options may include oat flour, almond flour, almond butter, applesauce, olive oil, or vegetable oil.

If you think your dog may have a food allergy, talk to your veterinarian so you can properly identify and address the allergy.

Always check the ingredients in your peanut butter and make sure there is NO xylitol (birch sugar). Xylitol is toxic to dogs.

And most importantly… let your pup enjoy their special day!
